even in the office

it’s not because there is no memory of it
that consciousness stops during sleep

it’s not because there is memory loss,
that my grandmother didn’t consciously
put the pot on the stove

there seems to be only consciousness
one long string of consciousness
during one’s life
awake or asleep,
in the womb,
even in the office
