nature’s rusty pepperbox …
i’m an expat living in my own country:
first an african spouse
next central-asian
far away inlaws
no mother
emotionally-distant father and sister
now i notice that when collecting my youngest
at her friend’s places,
i often silently wonder
when hearing my-age-lings:
“are you still there (1975),
…. but of course —
you never had a chance
to escape …”
