at the beginning of this month, chestnut started flowering.

the female flower pictured above
already bears some resemblances to the prickly shell
protecting the delicious fruit
ready to be enjoyed early in october

its male flowers (see below)
look like bracelets of thousands of stamens

two weeks later, the fruit is fully formed and growing …

… I couldn’t refrain from experimenting with back light and gimp
