the birth of control

When did the child in us
die?
When did that controller
rise?

too much pressure we gave in to;
or a parent expecting too much
more than we could give,
for boring tasks in school?

Did we feel a lot of pain,
did we feel betrayed by life,
betrayed by
nature,
disease or
death,
people
love?

next we determined:
“never again”

control was born

  1. Yet Jesus admonished we ‘be as little children’ to enter the Kingdom. Or so goes the story. Good advice, and informs me at least that we were meant to be lost and then find ourselves, learning much from the journey.

  2. I don’t recall it being quite like that for me, though we’re all different. I tend to regard the forming of self-entity during infancy as the birth of control. That seems to be supported by inference and reason. I do recall the time when I realised the full extent of the controlling tendency, and it was very emotional. I think it’s a form of neurosis that plagues the human mind ubiquitously; it’s the blind spot we all share.
