3 days ago they started to flower
in one week perhaps already gone
occupying a patch of boundary
together with perennial liverwort

boredom and excitement
hawk weed can represent both
same weed, different mind

watch yourself when being bored
watch yourself when being excited
is there a boundary
the watching has an effect
regular watching
changes habits

  1. Can I use the closeup shot as a headline feature for a future post on the blog of an eye that sees crazy happiness in such yellow? It is like an entire sun with all it’s shine condensed into such a sweet little form! -x.M

  2. “watch yourself when being bored
    watch yourself when being excited
    is there a boundary
    the watching has an effect
    regular watching

Wow! Is there a boundary? Great question!

  3. I’ve noticed that anxiety and excitement are very similar….worth discernment….perhaps a choice made which one to go with is all that moves us out of confusion.

While boredom and an emotional/mental ‘flatness’, on the other hand, are very different. Boredom, to me, is always a choice made. ‘Flatness’ is in need of the acknowledgement that rest or recovery is in some way calling. Balance balance balance said the caterpillar.

Thanks, Bert, for this provocative post and for introducing Hawkweed…I wasn’t aware of it’s name!

    • Excited to go on holiday, and then there’s always that moment of no return, where I, seconds before, feel that deep fear for the unknown, and going forward, … perhaps this is one way they intertwine …
Boredom: there is no unknown at all, there is “need for distraction”, but there is none good enough to get out of the laziness. The laziness is a coccoon protecting against ‘you never know’. Boredom could be that agent that finally moves you towards an action of discovery … and perhaps out of laziness (just freewheeling in thoughts πŸ™‚ )
