morning stillness

real patience is the mother of all virtues …
doing one thing at a time,
not looking too far ahead
on the schedule
just one thing,
and then another,
and in between
a space

humility is the other mother …
to know what we really are,
not self destructive
or inducing inferiority,
neither the opposite
of arrogance,
but relational to All.

patience leads to Silence
the not getting angry
and the not shouting
kind of silence

humility leads to Silence
the not talking
before being asked

kind of silence

patience and humility
habits of the mind …

all habits are learned

  1. This is an extract from The Milk Is White:
    Patience.
This is often thought of as something called upon, as and when required, in relation to expectations, situations and people, all as separate events. However, there is the patience which is all-encompassing and omnipresent, that quality which gives one tranquillity, patience with life itself: that patience comes from knowing the purpose of life and how it manifests as life and in life. The acquiring of this quality, this patience, is one of our main spiritual purposes.

    “Quo Vadis?”
